Lanvin Fall 2011 Menswear Collection

When I first clicked on the slideshow of the Lanvin fall 2011 menswear collection on Style.com, the first thing I thought was, Casablanca class. The structured long coats, the loafers, the tilted hats – it all had a classic vibe to it, with a modern flair, of course.

I loved everything about this look. The texture and charcoal color of the long overcoat was near perfection, but the entire look was perfection. This is a great look for a classy night out or a bit event. The tilted hat adds a bit of an Old Hollywood feel to it and everything is well tailored and flows together wonderfully. The gloves, the loafers, even the socks all go together seamlessly.

This featured look is something that I can see being worn in New York City and reminds me of a modern version of something that would be seen on Mad Men. I absolutely love the pants. I love that the trousers have a bit more give to them and aren’t your typical suit pant. The warm jacket worn over the suit isn’t something that I thought I would like, but due to the fact that the coat is more fitted than most puffer jackets and matches the suit perfectly is incredible. The entire look is incredible for a night out in the cooler months.

Now, something you may need to know about me is that I tend to wear white, gray and black more than any other colors and I currently have an obsession with gray, thus this outfit really stood out to me. Another thing about me is that I usually absolutely hate seeing socks on people. Generally, I don’t want to see them (unless they are knee-highs or peeking out from tall boots). I really don’t want to see them if they are decorative, or, worse, toe socks. I don’t even like wearing socks. The only socks I like are Christmas stockings. However, Lanvin may be changing my opinion. In addition to this wonderful gray outfit (the coat and sweater are incredible) the socks do not bug me and, in fact, I adore them. I love how the hat isn’t gray and that the loafers are brown instead of black. Those and the socks break up the all gray ensemble and create a classic and basic look. Plus, with it being a neutral color, each piece can be work with other things.

There is something that I absolutely adore about this look and I am pretty sure it is the pants. I love that they are a departure from the typical straight suiting pants and are a statement all on their own. Plus, I have to say it, They look insanely comfortable and I even want to wear them. Another aspect that works for this look is that the sweater and button-up combo are fitted and are a great contrast to the pants. I also love that the sweater is a bit sheer and that the tie shows through it. Finally, again, the hat tops it all off. I would also love to see these pants combined with a fitted cardigan and a scarf.

Needless to say, Lanvin rocked the runway with its combination of Old and New World looks. Some are a bit more out there than others, but it is fashion, we are supposed to be out there and taking risks, right?

XO,

B.

  1. Somehow I got the feeling I am going to like this line for the chique and classy look. Needless to say that it would help one to make an appearence everywhere. Although, I would prefer to just wear to work, because it doesn’t really suit the casual part of me. Anyway. thank you so much for sharing. This is something I can totally work with!
